On Yom Hashoah, we remember the 6,000,000 Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Join us for an online Cross-Canada Holocaust remembrance presentation when we will come together as a nation to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust, remember the victims, and pay tribute to the resilience and faith of the Canadian community of survivors. The unfortunate cancellation of in-person Yom Hashoah ceremonies has provided an unprecedented opportunity to collaborate with individuals and organizations from coast to coast, when solidarity and togetherness is more important than ever.
This exciting program will include elements that had been planned for the Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa, such as greetings from our Prime Minister and the world premiere of a piece by the Toronto Jewish Chorus. The program will also include inspirational survivor testimony, a candle lighting ceremony, musical performances, and prayers. There will also be participatory elements so you can contribute to the program from your home.
The host for the evening will be Toronto-based actor Jake Epstein, best known for his work on Degrassi, Designated Survivor and Suits. Epstein is the son of Kathy Kacer, the award-winning author of The Secret of Gabi’s Dresser and other Holocaust-related books for young adults.
We hope you will join us for this meaningful program.
