AMBASSADORS OF CHANGE 2024
Ambassadors of Change brings together high school students of varied faiths and backgrounds for a unique program that focuses on the lessons and relevance of the Holocaust. Students have the rare opportunity to meet with Holocaust survivors and hear first-hand accounts of their experiences. The students participate in a guided discussion, discern the timely lesson of the Holocaust, and discuss ways they can promote tolerance and inclusion in their own communities. Ambassadors of Change forges the values of diversity, justice, and social inclusiveness in the next generation of Canadians.
In past years, this program was held annually in Ottawa, prior to the National Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony; after participating in Ambassadors of Change program, students had an opportunity to attend the National Ceremony. Approximately 200 students from various high schools in Ontario and Quebec participated each year.
In 2023, Ambassadors of Change was run in 13 classes across Canada in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Canadian Educator Alumni from the Yad Vashem Seminar in Israel successful ran simultaneous programs in their classrooms alongside Holocaust Survivors marking Yom Hashoah (Holocaust remembrance Day) and with the generosity of the Azrieli Foundation, distributed Holocaust survivor memoirs to each student participant.
We are thrilled to offer this program to educator alumni in 2024 marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27.
